Hallway DIY

1

A couple of months ago I wrote this post about how I wanted to get stuck into more DIY around the house. I attended one of B&Q’s You Can Do It Workshops and was really impressed. For just £10 I got a 3 hour workshop teaching the basics of drilling walls and putting up shelves, mirrors and pictures. Better still you can go on these courses for free if you sign up to the B&Q Club. (more…)

Good Manners

Struggling to instill some manners into your child? I found these cute wall cards on Etsy which can either be framed or stung up to remind your little ones how to behave. I thought that they would work well alongside a reward chart – the carrot and the stick approach! (more…)

Do You DIY?

B&Q Diy courseEvery day for the past 8 months I’ve been looking at the un-hung picture frames, mirrors and shelves scattered across our house, thinking “today is the day I get those sorted”. Well that day has finally come! It was prompted by the delivery of some canvases of our wedding pictures yesterday. Grant isn’t much of a DIY man. I can just about hammer a nail into a wall but actual drilling freaks me out!

My Kitchen View

One thing I love about our new house is the kitchen. It’s about three times the size of our old kitchen in London and I probably spend most of the day in there. Unfortunately the view from the kitchen window is a bit uninspiring. The kitchen looks out onto a yard and is separated from the garden. So my view is pretty much a wooden fence and our ugly trampoline! (more…)

Toddler Beds

The time has come when we have to start thinking about getting Aoife out of her cot and into a bed. She’s not quite throwing herself over the rails yet, but she is beginning to test if her leg can reach the top of the rails (yes it can!). Knowing her, it’s only a matter of time until her brain clicks that she might be able to climb out, so we had better get her into a bed quick!

When we bought Aoife’s nursery furniture I chose a dark brown wood. I regretted this soon afterwards (stupid pregnancy brain!) and so this time I think I will go for something white or with a bit of colour. I am veering away from themed beds as I imagine she will grow out of her Toy Story / Peppa Pig obsession soon!

Here are a few of my favourite so far:
